The reopening of the retail area of the emirate’s financial hub will be done according to strict health and safety, precautionary guidelines.
An email to stakeholders said the reopening is in line with the decision by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and chairman of the Executive Council, to gradually open up the business world from the Covid-19-enforced lockdown in the emirate.
As with other areas of Dubai, retail outlets, which can open from 10am to 8pm, will have an occupancy cap of 70 percent, while gyms and fitness centres can operate at 50 percent capacity – showers, spa, saunas, massages, events or gatherings are not allowed.
Salons and barbers can operate up to 50 percent capacity.
Food and beverage outlets, which can open from 8am to 8pm, can operate at their own capacity, but tables should be placed two metres apart for all customers and hygiene, sanitisation and social distancing guidelines should be followed at all times.
Employees or visitors to Gate Avenue must always wear face masks – entry will be denied for anyone failing to do so. Temperature screenings will also be carried out.
